GlenEira Lord Reserve and Koornang Park draft Masterplan

Recommended Posts

Get on board and let the council know we want better facilities at Lord Reserve.  Cut and paste the response at the following:

Their question 1) What aspects of the (Lord Koornang Draft Masterplan) do you like?

Your answer:

I support the removal of Moira Avenue in order to consolidate the 2 parks and make more open space available for community sport and recreation.

Their question 2) Are there any improvements you would suggest for the Masterplan?

 Your answer:

Glen Eira FC needs to be able to use the additional new open space for soccer activities all year round, over the Summer months.  These activities include off-season training programs, holiday clinics, player gradings, pre-season friendly matches, introductory soccer programs, 7-a-side social matches, come-and-try days and Soccer Mums just to mention a few.  The demand to play at Glen Eira FC is already high and it increases every year – for example Glen Eira FC has had a 52% increase it its U8-U14 girls’ program in 2019.

We need a state-of-the-art pavilion and Club rooms with spectator viewing of the soccer games, with male/female change-rooms and bathrooms for our boys and our girls, a large social room capable of hosting events, semi-commercial kitchen, facilities for umpires, and storage. Somewhere we can gather together, as a community, watch our teams playing, and host social events. With the development of a semi-commercial kitchen and a large social room, this will also allow Council to rent these facilities for all types of community functions.

We don't want our kids playing soccer where there is a turf cricket wicket.  In winter, the sticky black mud spoils soccer games (players can't run in it, balls don't roll over it) and ruins their boots and playing uniforms. We need a synthetic pitch for all year round use – there is nothing available in the Glen Eira region that we can use.

Their question 3) Is there anything you believe should be added to the Masterplan?

 Your answer:

As mentioned above, the Masterplan needs to include the provision of year-round space for soccer activities, a synthetic pitch, and a state-of-the-art pavilion with provision for spectator viewing.

Please implement the pitch layout and Lord Reserve design proposed by Glen Eira FC in its submissions to Council.
