on name calling ...

A few days ago, the recently appointed President of the Merimbula Chamber of Commerce, Nigel Ayling, chided the association for its alleged use of “emotive terms” & for “name calling” in its articles.

While Mr Ayling is as entitled to his opinion as anyone-else, the association believes that such criticisms are all too often used as a device to distract the community from the real issues being raised.

At the same time, the association believes that if Mr Ayling & his ilk are genuinely interested in improving the standard of community debate, they would insist that the same standard should be observed by everyone, including councillors, the local media & other self-appointed apologists for city hall.
